Oh my goodness!
I waited all day for this — my after supper treat of homemade hot chocolate.
And trust me…no packets were harmed in the making of my hot chocolate! This was no time to “just add water” to the pre-packaged stuff!
Nope!
Serious hot chocolate calls means it’s time to head to the refrigerator and grab the jug of milk.
Here’s how I like my cocoa, and it’s pretty much the Hershey’s Cocoa for One recipe:
I put a 1/2 cup of milk in my favorite coffee mug, then I add a quick shake of salt and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Now it’s time for the Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa! Usually I go for 2 teaspoons of the regular chocolate and 1 teaspoon of the extra dark chocolate.
I give it all a good stir, and then I add the other 1/2 cup of milk and stir it all again. Microwave it for 90 seconds, drop in a quick splash of vanilla, and stir to make sure the chocolate isn’t all sunk to the bottom of the mug.
Sometimes I add marshmallows. At Christmas I stir it with a peppermint stick, but whatever the case remember this important instruction: do not drink this amazing mug of hot chocolatey goodness standing in the kitchen!
And remember — from scratch hot cocoa is good stuff, so soak it all in. This is not the time to chug or gulp.
Cup the mug in your hands and feel the warmth.
Smell the oh so good smells of chocolate and sweetness and vanilla and milk.
S-A-V-O-R. This. Moment.
And be grateful it’s yours! Because that’s absolutely what I’m doing.
Best!
