When Wyatt was small, we used to make pomanders quite often, but somewhere along the way we got out of the habit.
Until this year!
Passing through the produce section of the grocery, I saw some beautiful limes and lemons, and I already had a bag of clementines in my cart. And the thought occurred to me…
Pomanders!
From produce, I made a quick dash to spices and picked up whole cloves.
Now the yummy fragrance of lemon, lime, and orange mingled with the spicy scent of clove has my kitchen smelling like Christmas.
If you’ve never made pomanders, they’re simple and lovely—just cloves poked through the peel of the citrus fruit and display them in a bowl.
Word to the wise: to make it easier to insert the cloves, use an nut pick or an ice pick to make the initial hole in the peeling.
It makes for a fun afternoon for the kids or grandkids.
Happy Friday!
