#thisdaysjoy: a lazy afternoon
November 28, 2023
Growing up at my house, the most important hour of television was the CBS Evening News, followed by our local CBS station, which provided the highlight of the television broadcast day: The Weather Forecast.
Otherwise, Mom did not give two hoots about anything on television, and since Dad was color-blind, I suspect television “in living color” would have been totally wasted on him.
But still, Dad loved watching Gunsmoke and any cop show that happened to be on. Hawaii Five-O, Kojak, Cannon, Barnaby Jones — you name it, if it was a 1970s cop show, Dad and I probably watched it.
So imagine my delight when I discovered my dad’s all-time favorite — Mannix — was available for streaming.
This past weekend I spent a lazy afternoon with a cup of coffee, working on a crocheted piece, watching Mike Connors tool around in his 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado “Mannix Roadster.”
And…yes…it WAS in living color — and it was wonderful!
